Introduction

This collection provides a set of documents that detail a specific architectural issue at a given point in time. These documents do not (necessarily) promote any given approach. Instead, they are used to provide background information and detail for Architecture Position Papers (which endorse specific actions). discovery proposal may reference these documents. It is up to the reader to find follow on references to these documents.

Final Documents

03/21/2003 - 2003-0001 - Retention/Deletion of files

This is an overview of what happens when data gets deleted from systems such as Cyrus, AFS, Oracle, etc. and the retention policy associated with it.

Draft Documents

These documents are still in draft state.

2003-0002 - ID Naming

This describes the naming conventions and underlying "policy" for assigning, reusing and recycling IDs.

2003-0003 - CMU CA

This describes the current state of the Certificate Authority being operated by Computing Services.
